The Lieutenancy for Slovenia: an active and praying presence in the society

2 February 2016: Knights and Dames of the Lieutenancy participated in inauguration ceremonies, officiated by the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, for the new premises of the Apostolic Nunciature (Vatican Embsassy) to Slovenia, in the capital Ljubljana.

2 March 2016: Regular meeting of the members of the Lieutenancy with the presentation of the recent and current projects of the EOHSJ in the Holy Land.

26 March 2016, Easter Eve: The members took part in morning prayers at »Christ's Tomb« at the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, Ljubljana.

27 March 2016, Easter Sunday: The members took part in the Resurrection procession at the Cathedral of St. Nicholas and Holy Mass, led by the Archbishop and Metropolite of Ljubljana Archdiocese, Monsignor Stanislav Zore, OFM.

22 -23 April 2016: The Knights and Dames of the Lieutenancy had a regular annual spiritual retreat at the Ursuline Monastery Sv. Duh in the vicinity of Škofja Loka. The intense spiritual activities were led by the ecclesiastical Master of Ceremonies  Msgr. Dr. Andrej Saje.

23 April 2016: Since Škofja Loka is situated not far from Ljubljana, the members managed to take part in the procession and the Solemn Mass at the occasion of the St. George's Day. (St. George is the patron saint of the city Ljubljana and the celebration is traditionally held at the castle with the chapel of St. George. The Knights and Dames of both Orders, EOHSJ and The Sovereign Military Order of Malta traditionally attend these ceremonies.).

23 June 2016: Members of the Lieutenancy traditionally took part in the 24 hour prayer marathon, the so called »Praying-Chain for the Homeland«. Most of the important lay Catholic organizations are asked to take part each year. Members of the Lieutenancy for Slovenia prepared and led the prayer for one hour (representing one of the 24 links in the praying-chain).

24 June 2016: The presence at the Holy Mass for the Homeland as closing part of the »Praying-Chain for the Homeland«. The solemn Mass is also an event of a diplomatic nature and takes place every year on the eve of the Slovenian National Holiday.

16 – 18 September 2016: Members went on a pilgrimage to the sanctuary of the Holy Sepulchre in Miechów, Poland. They took part at 4th Jerusalem Days, a scientific symposium and ecclesial encounter organised by the Lieutenancy for Poland.

23 – 25 September 2016: Some members of the Lieutenancy attended the Investiture ceremonies in Villach, where new members of the Lieutenancy for Austria were invested.

11 October 2016: Some members were invited to attend the so-called Red Mass at Ljubljana Cathedral for all who seek justice, particularly all those who are employed in the legal profession.

7 – 9 October 2016: Some members of the Lieutenancy attended the Investiture ceremonies in Barcelona, where new members of the Lieutenancy for Eastern Spain and Lieutenancy for Norway were invested.

22 – 23 October 2016: Some members of the Lieutenancy attended the Investiture ceremonies in Budapest and the blessing of the commemorative plaque at the home chapel of the Lieutenancy for Hungary.

7 December 2016: Regular meeting of the members of the Lieutenancy with the presentation of the current situation and projects in the Holy Land and the matters of the Order.

23 December 2016: Members attended Holy Mass for the Fatherland, together with the high representatives from the nation's social-political life and diplomatic corps. The Mass is held every 23 December in the Cathedral of St. Nicholas. After the ceremony the members of the Lieutenancy had a social event for Christmas and New Year.

First Thursday of each month: common attendance of the members of the Lieutenancy at the Holy Mass at the Ljubljana Cathedral (prayer for peace).
